The driving licence for passenger transport is issued for a period of no more than five years. It is extended on application for up to five years at a time.
Attention! An extension beyond the age of 60 can only be granted if a performance psychology report confirms suitability.

You can have this examination carried out by ophthalmologists or by company or occupational physicians, a doctor from an assessment centre for fitness to drive, a doctor from the public health department or another doctor from the public administration. A certificate or report issued is valid for two years. - Medical certificate of fitness on an official form
There is an official form for this certificate, which doctors usually have. You can have the examination carried out by a doctor of your choice. The certificate must not be older than one year at the time of application. - only in the case of an extension beyond the age of 60: additional performance psychological examination
The performance psychological examination includes, for example, a check of the ability to cope with stress, the ability to react, the ability to orientate oneself and the ability to concentrate. Proof that these special requirements have been met is provided by an occupational or occupational medical report or by a report from an officially recognised assessment centre for driving aptitude.

Since August 2021, the local knowledge examination has been abolished and replaced by the so-called small specialist knowledge as part of the amendment to the Passenger Transport Act. The small specialist knowledge is to apply to taxi drivers as well as to "hired car and bundled demand transport of the different forms of transport in occasional transport". At present, however, proof of specialist knowledge does not have to be presented for the issue of a driving licence for passenger transport.
However, when renewing a driving licence for passenger transport for the first time, which was issued after 2 August 2021 without submitting proof of specialist knowledge, proof of specialist knowledge must also be submitted in addition to the other renewal requirements.
