Immunisation offers you protection against certain infectious diseases. After basic immunisation in infancy or early childhood, children, adolescents and adults must have regular booster vaccinations to maintain the necessary vaccination protection.

The Saxon Vaccination Commission issues recommendations for immunisation and publishes the vaccination calendar for children, adolescents and adults in the Free State of Saxony.

• For infants, children, adolescents and adults:
• Diphtheria (D/d)
• Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
• Hepatitis A
• Hepatitis B
• Human papillomavirus (HPV)
• influenza
• measles
• meningococcus
• mumps
• Pertussis (aP/ap)
• pneumococcus
• Poliomyelitis
• Rotaviruses
• Rubella
• Tetanus (T)
• varicella

For adults aged 50 and over additionally:

• Shingles (herpes zoster)

Before each vaccination, the doctor will check whether the vaccination is necessary and whether you are healthy.

The costs of recommended vaccinations are generally covered by health insurance.

Contact your family doctor or the Gesundheitsamt. They will advise you and immunise you. Any vaccinations you have had will be entered in your vaccination card.
