The Saxon Volunteer Card has been an attractive way of recognising civic engagement for many years. The "Saxon Volunteer Card" programme is an offer to all Saxon municipalities as well as clubs, associations and other sponsors of volunteering to recognise the voluntary work of citizens. Numerous discount providers participate in the "Saxon Volunteer Card" programme and offer card holders various benefits, for example when visiting public facilities such as museums, castles, swimming pools or taking advantage of other discounts and offers.

The Saxon Volunteer Card is valid throughout the state and is generally valid for a period of three years. The 6th edition of the volunteer card is valid from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027.

Please note: Not all town and municipal administrations in Saxony accept applications. If in doubt, enquire locally.

• Minimum age of 14 years,
• Residence, habitual abode or commitment in the Free State of Saxony,
• Commitment of an average of three hours per week,
• previous duration of the commitment of at least two years and
• an unpaid commitment to the common good, whereby the receipt of an expense allowance of EUR 70.00 per month - or EUR 840.00 per year - does not preclude this.

Trained youth leaders can receive the Saxon Volunteer Card at the same time as the Youth Leader Card.

The supporting organisation for which the volunteer work is carried out confirms the requirements for receiving the volunteer card. Sponsoring organisations can be

• clubs, associations and foundations recognised as non-profit organisations,
• Umbrella organisations of independent charities and their subdivisions
• Parishes and religious communities and
• Municipalities, municipal associations and cities

• Complete the application form in full.
• Have the requirements for receiving the volunteer card confirmed by the organisation for which you are volunteering.
• Submit the application to the city or municipal administration of your place of residence. If the municipality of residence does not participate in the "Saxon Volunteer Card" programme, the confirmed applications must be sent to the Engagementstiftung Sachsen, Königsbrücker Str. 28 - 30, 01099 Dresden, e-mail: ehrenamtskarte@es-sn.de.
