Bildungsurlaub beantragen

Employees whose place of work is located in Saxony-Anhalt are entitled to five days of paid special leave per year for educational purposes that serve thematically for job-specific further training.

Prerequisites are:

• the employment relationship has existed for at least six months, and
• there are no urgent operational reasons to the contrary.

In addition, the organizer must have a permit for the training offered to grant educational leave from the State Administration Office.

You can request proof of the approval of the educational leave for the planned further training from the respective organizer in the form of a copy of the approval notice or a confirmation for submission to your employer.

The costs incurred for courses within the framework of the educational leave are generally to be borne by the employees themselves. There is no entitlement that these costs must be covered by the employer.

The Education Exemption Act does not apply to persons who are civil servants, who are in a judicial office, as well as to soldiers and those doing civilian service. Special regulations apply to these employees.
