The closing period refers to the legally regulated periods in which pubs, bars, dining restaurants, discos, beer gardens, etc. are closed. It is primarily used for noise protection.
The following rules apply:
- The closing time for pubs and restaurants as well as for public entertainment venues begins at 5 a.m. and ends at 6 a.m.
- For the nights of 1 January, 1 May and 2 May, the curfew period will be lifted.
- The closing time for certain types of operation such as amusement arcades, public entertainment venues at fairs and fairgrounds as well as for other public entertainment venues begins at 10 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m.
The competent authority (cities, municipalities) may generally extend, shorten or lift the closure period if there is a public need or special local conditions.
