If you, as a property owner, find explosive ordnance on your property, you must immediately report this to the competent security authority or the police, otherwise you will expose yourself and other people to a high risk.

Explosive ordnance includes all ammunition or parts of ammunition intended for warfare which is explosive by nature, in particular rifle cartridges, bombs, mines, grenades, explosives and detonators.

Often ordnance is not recognizable as such. Many are rusted beyond recognition or resemble commercially available objects in appearance. The obligation to report also applies to walkers who find ammunition.

The disposal of found ordnance, in particular the recovery, transport and destruction of the ordnance as well as the search for ordnance in the event of justified suspicions, are free of charge.

Costs arise only for purely precautionary search measures for explosive ordnance in the event of unfounded suspicion of danger and for the processing of the application for explosive ordnance search at the police authority in accordance with its fee schedule.

Please contact your district or the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau. In the district-free cities of Magdeburg and Halle, the police departments are responsible instead of the cities.
