Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr absolvieren

The Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) gives young people the opportunity to actively work for the preservation of our nature and environmental protection after completing full-time compulsory schooling up to the age of 27. The FÖJ is particularly suitable for:

• Time between school leaving certificate and vocational training or start of studies,
• Career orientation as well as
• Personality development and strengthening of the sense of responsibility for a sustainable approach to nature and the environment

The mission begins on 1 September and ends on 31 August of the following year. If you conclude an apprenticeship or study place, the contract can be terminated prematurely. The FÖJ participants work 40 hours a week in the field of nature and environmental protection, environmental education work with different target groups, care and planting work as well as public relations. In addition to the year-round work in the self-selected locations, five one-week educational seminars on various topics take place.

The Voluntary Ecological Year as substitute military service is only available in Saxony-Anhalt with the second FÖJ sponsor, the International Youth Community Services (ijgd e.V.) Landesverein Sachsen-Anhalt possible.
