If you take over a system for handling substances hazardous to water in order to operate it, this change of operator must be reported to the responsible lower water authority.

When taking over an existing installation for handling substances hazardous to water that is subject to notification, you as the new operator of the installation are obliged to report this change of operator immediately to the responsible lower water authority. With the notification, you provide information on the previous and new operators, the owner and the takeover of the facility. The obligation to notify does not apply to heating oil consumer installations.

The prerequisite is a change of operator of an existing installation subject to mandatory inspection in which substances hazardous to water are handled, with the exception of heating oil consumer installations.

• Many lower water authorities offer you a form for the notification. Fill this out and send it to the lower water authority by post or deliver it in person. The competent authority will check your documents for completeness
• If any documents are missing, the competent authority will ask you to submit the missing documents.
• As a rule, you will receive a confirmation of notification.
• Your application data will be entered into the authority's specialist procedure.

The change of operator must be reported immediately in writing or online.

• The obligation to notify only applies to installations subject to mandatory testing.
• The change of operator of heating oil consumer systems is exempt from the obligation to notify.
• The notification must be submitted to the competent authority immediately in writing or online.

The lower water authority of your district or independent city is responsible.
