Schlüsselzahl 96 oder Schlüsselzahl 196 für die Klasse B beantragen

If you want to drive your vehicle with trailer over 750 kilograms, you need an extension of class B by the key number 96. If you want to drive light motorcycles up to 125 cm³ without a motorcycle license, you need an extension by the key number 196.

You can extend your class B driver's license under certain conditions.

With the code number B96, you may drive class B motor vehicles with a trailer with a permissible total mass of more than 750 kilograms. The permissible total mass may exceed 3,500 kilograms, but may not exceed 4,250 kilograms.

Key number B196 allows you to drive motorcycles (including those with sidecars) with a maximum engine capacity of 125 cm³. The engine power must not exceed 11 kW. The ratio of power to weight must not exceed 0.1 kW/kg.

To drive the key numbers you must complete the driver training, which is specified in the Driving License Ordinance (FeV).

• Valid identity card or passport (with current certificate of registration, if applicable)

For the key number 96:

• You must be at least 18 years old, or 17 years old in the case of accompanied driving.
• You must have completed and be able to provide proof of driver training of at least 7 hours (at least 2.5 hours of theoretical training, at least 3.5 hours of practical training).
• You must hold a class B driver's license or meet the requirements for obtaining it.

For the key number 196:

• You must be at least 25 years old.
• You must have held a Class B license for at least 5 years.
• You must complete and be able to provide proof of 9 90-minute instruction units (4 instruction units of theory and 5 instruction units of practice).
• The period between the completion of the driver training and the registration of the key number 196 must not exceed 1 year.

• The fee is based on the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt).
• If the driver's license is sent directly to the home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.

Key number B96 represents an allocation that is valid throughout the European Union (EU).

The key number 196 is a national key number. The resulting authorization is therefore only valid in Germany.

With the registration of the key number B196, no driving license of class A1 is acquired. For this reason, it cannot be used to upgrade to class A2, for example.
