Do you want to build, substantially change or shut down a liquid manure, slurry or silage leachate plant or a plant for storing solid manure or silage? Then you may have to submit a notification to the lower water authority.
If you wish to construct, substantially alter, or decommission any of the following facilities, you must notify us in advance:
- Silage leachate storage facility with a volume greater than 25 cubic yards
- Other manure, slurry or silage leachate facilities with a total volume of more than 500 cubic meters.
- Solid manure or silage storage facility with a volume of more than 1,000 cubic meters.
You do not need to file a notice if the facility has a permit under other legislation. Or if an approval has been applied for that ensures the requirements of the "Ordinance on Installations for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water" (AwSV).
- Fully completed notification form for JGS systems
- Designation of the plant(s)
- Site plan (location), distance to water bodies and drinking water wells
- Construction drawings
- Details of tanks (substance details, number, volume, material, above-ground or underground, leak detection)
- Details and proof of suitability for use by building authorities for tanks, safety equipment and other construction products, types of construction and kits used
- Piping plan
- Drainage plan
- possible expert opinions depending on special circumstances
You must plan and construct the plant in accordance with the generally recognized rules of technology.
The requirements for the plant result from the "Ordinance on the Handling of Substances Hazardous to Water" (AwSV). You must comply with these and provide evidence of compliance.
You must have the system installed by a specialist company approved by the water authorities.
Many lower water authorities offer you a form for the notification. Fill out the form and send it to the lower water authority by mail or deliver it personally.
In any case, the authority will check your documents for completeness and, if necessary, request missing information or documents. As a rule, you will receive a confirmation of notification or a decision with conditions. You will also receive a fee notice for processing the notification.
Your application data will be stored at the lower water authority.
JGS plants include in particular
- containers,
- collecting pits,
- earth basins,
- silos,
- mobile silos,
- manure cellars and channels,
- solid manure slabs,
- Filling surfaces with associated piping, safety equipment, joint seals, coatings and linings.
- Notification of the construction, substantial modification or decommissioning of a liquid manure, slurry and silage leachate plant in accordance with Annex 7 AwSV Receipt.
