If you have a gun ownership card and acquire a firearm that requires a permit, you must notify the competent authority within two weeks.

You can acquire the weapon by transferring it or by purchasing it from a gun dealer.

If you are a marksman and have a yellow gun ownership card, you must state the recognized shooting regulations and the discipline permitted for the weapon in question.

On the basis of the notification, the weapon will be entered in your gun ownership card and the previous entry will be deleted. If you have a European firearms pass, you can also have the purchased weapon entered there immediately.

If you acquire a weapon on the basis of a previous entry, you can also apply for an ammunition purchase certificate at the same time as the notification. To do this, you must specify for which of the weapons you wish to purchase the ammunition that you have indicated in the notification.

If you do not report the purchase or do not do so within two weeks, you will be committing an administrative offense.

You can use the NWR identification numbers (NWR ID) to complete the notification more quickly:

• your personal NWR ID (P or F NWR ID) for your personal details
• the permit NWR ID for the firearms permit (E-NWR ID)
• the weapon or weapon part NWR ID (W or T NWR ID).

You can obtain the NWR IDs on request from the relevant weapons authority.

• Identity card or passport (copy)
• Weapons possession card (WBK) or hunting license with purchase authorization (previous entry)
• European firearms pass (if entry is desired)
