Are you carrying out deep drilling or other earthworks? In certain cases, the authorities may require you to stop or remove the excavation.

If you carry out a so-called earth excavation, the competent authority can order you to stop or remove it.

Earth excavations are boreholes or other earthworks that reach so deep into the ground that they can affect the movement or quality of the groundwater.

The order applies to planned earth excavations and those already reported to the authority, as well as unintentional groundwater development.

• Earth excavation cessation or removal order
• Deep drilling or earthworks can be stopped by the authorities
• Prerequisites:
  • A detrimental change to the groundwater is to be feared or has already occurred as a result of the excavation.
  • The damage cannot be avoided in any other way.
• Responsible authorities: The responsible authorities are determined by the location of the planned drilling points, usually the lower water authorities
