If you would like to train in your company, the responsible body, such as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), will advise and support you.
Your company may only hire and train apprentices if:
- the type and institution of the training institution is suitable for vocational training, and
- the number of trainees is proportionate to the number of training places or the number of skilled workers employed.
If your company wants to train for the first time, the suitability will be checked on site. In addition, the training consultants inform all those involved in vocational training about the content requirements of dual vocational training.
If your company is not able to fully provide the necessary professional skills, knowledge and abilities locally, you may be able to compensate for this with training outside the company.
Even after the initial review, the consultants regularly visit the companies and permanent establishments in their region to support and advise you on proper training.
Depending on the training area and profession, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Chamber of Crafts, Chamber of Agriculture or another body is responsible for checking suitability.

If you as a company would like to train for the first time or in a new profession, you should contact the responsible body as early as possible.
- The consultant will make an appointment with you for an initial consultation.
- A detailed consultation is then usually conducted in your training center.
- If the consultant determines that further discussions, site visits, documents or evidence are necessary, a next appointment will be arranged with you in a timely manner.
- Alternatively, the consultant can also stipulate that the exchange with you will take place in written, electronic or telephone form in the further course.
- Once all open questions have been clarified from your point of view as well as from the consultant's point of view, the procedure is completed.
- If the consultant determines that training is not possible in your company or can no longer or only under certain conditions, you will receive a corresponding notification from the Chamber or from the competent authority under state law.
After it has been determined that your company is suitable for training, you are allowed to hire and train trainees.

- If the consultant needs additional on-site appointments, documents or evidence from the company to clarify questions, the time will be extended accordingly.
