The authority may also order the appointment of a water protection officer in addition to those who are already obliged to appoint a water protection officer.

The competent authority may order that:

1. the dischargers of waste water into water bodies for which there is no obligation to appoint water protection officers anyway,
2. the dischargers of waste water in waste water plants,
3. the operators of facilities for handling substances hazardous to water in accordance with Section 62 (1) WHG,
4. the operators of pipeline installations in accordance with number 19.3 of Annex 1 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act

have to appoint one or more water protection officers.

The order on the part of the authority is not bound by deadlines.
