People in need of care, who are generally cared for at home, can be cared for at night in a facility.

Night care is intended to accompany home care. You can take advantage of night care services if home care cannot be sufficiently ensured or if this is necessary to supplement or strengthen home care.

Within the framework of the maximum benefit amounts, the nursing care fund assumes the care-related expenses, including the expenses for care, and the expenses for the medical treatment care services necessary in the institution. The costs for accommodation and meals as well as separately calculable investment costs, on the other hand, must in principle be borne privately.

Night care facilities look after people in need of care who need help with bedtime, getting up and personal hygiene measures.

Night care facilities are often used by demented individuals who have a disturbed day-night rhythm. If they are accommodated in a night care facility at night, the relatives can sleep through the night and take care of those in need of care again during the day.

Persons in need of care levels 2 to 5 can make use of semi-inpatient day and night care in addition to outpatient care benefits in kind, care allowance or the combination benefit according to § 38, without any credit being made to these claims.

Ask your nursing care fund which documents are required and whether there is a special application form.

• Night care must be applied for at the nursing care fund
• It applies to persons in need of care with care levels 2 to 5 if home care cannot be ensured to a sufficient extent.

People in need of care with care level 1 can use a benefit amount of 125 euros for night care. This amount corresponds to the monthly relief benefit contribution.
