If you want to apply for childcare allowance, please note that this is currently only possible in Bavaria as a state service.

The Federal Childcare Allowance Act was formally declared unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court on 21.07.2015. Since then, the former competent authorities have no longer been allowed to approve applications.

Already approved childcare allowance will continue to be paid.

If you already have an approval notice, you can receive a childcare allowance of 150 euros per month. You can receive the childcare allowance until the child's 3rd birthday, for a maximum of 22 months of age.

If you use publicly funded day care for your child, you are not entitled to childcare allowance.
