If you install, check for leaks, maintain, maintain or recover plants with fluorinated greenhouse gases, you will need a new certificate of competence after 4 July 2009 so that you can continue your activity. This is provided for by the Chemicals Climate Protection Regulation, which came into force on 1 August 2008 and is based on the European F-Gas Regulation.

This concerns the following activities:

• activities on refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems and heat pumps,
• activities at equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases as solvents,
• activities on fire protection systems and fire extinguishers,
• activities on high-voltage switchgear and
• Activities on air-conditioning systems in motor vehicles.

In order to acquire the certificates of competence, you must always pass a theoretical and practical competence test.

In the following cases, you must also:

• In the case of activities at refrigeration and air-conditioning systems and heat pumps, he has completed technical or craft training that qualifies him for the activity in question and has passed a theoretical and practical examination in accordance with Article 5(1) of Regulation (EC) No 2. 303/2008.
• In the case of activities at equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases as solvents, successfully completed technical or craft training qualifying for the respective activity and passed a theoretical and practical examination in accordance with Art. 3(1) of Regulation (EC) No 306/2008.
• In the case of activities on fire protection systems and fire extinguishers, a theoretical and practical test in accordance with Article 5(1) of Regulation (EC) No. 304/2008.
• In the case of activities on high-voltage switching systems, a theoretical and practical examination in accordance with Art. 4 para. Article 1(1) of Regulation (EC) No 305/2008.
• In the case of activities on air-conditioning systems in motor vehicles, successfully participated in a training programme pursuant to Article 3(2) of Regulation (EC) No. 307/2008.
