Saisonkennzeichen beantragen

If you only want to use your vehicle seasonally, you can apply for a seasonal license plate. This saves you the annual registration and deregistration in spring and fall. The application can be made by you or a person authorized by you.

You determine the operating period of the vehicle - minimum 2, maximum 11 months. Only full months can be selected, i.e. the start is always on the first day of the month and the end on the last day.

The seasonal license plate can be applied for before this period. The vehicle is then permanently registered, but may only be operated during the selected months. This period is stamped on the license plate.

According to § 5 Para. 1 No. 5 KraftStG, the tax liability for seasonal registration lasts as long as the license plate is used, at least 1 month.

Note:
In the case of an import, the vehicle must be presented to the vehicle registration authority.
If exhaust emission tests, main inspections or safety tests are due outside the registration period, these must be carried out in the first month of the next registration period.

• Original or certified copy of identity card or passport with current registration certificate (not older than 3 months),
• for companies: Business registration or extract from the commercial register (proof of address required),
• if representing the owner: power of attorney
• Registration certificate part I (old: vehicle registration document)
• Registration certificate part II (old: vehicle registration document)
• Insurance confirmation
• HU certificate
• License plate number, if the vehicle is registered
