Not all entries in the central register are included in a certificate of good conduct. The type of certificate of good conduct is decisive for the contents:

• for private purposes (document type N)
• for submission to an authority (document type O)
  

• Identity card or passport as proof of identity
• For official purposes:

o Address of the authority and indication of the purpose or reference number

• Completion of the 14th year of life

Up to the age of 17, the legal representative can also apply for the issue. The application cannot be submitted by a third party. The application will be received by the competent authority and forwarded to the Federal Central Register for issue.

The certificate of good conduct for private purposes (document type N) is sent directly to the applicant's home by post.

The certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O) is sent directly to the authority specified by the applicant with reference to the purpose of use. The applicant may request that the certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority first be sent to a local court for inspection if it contains entries.
