Children, adolescents, parents and other legal guardians can contact parenting and family counseling centers for parenting, personal or family-related issues, and questions and conflicts related to separations and divorces.

Depending on the age of the child or adolescent, the reason for visiting a counselling centre can be, for example, developmental delays, sleep, eating and speech disorders or fears. At school age, performance and behavioral problems often occur, which can increase in intensity during puberty. Often parents feel overwhelmed with the educational tasks.

But also relationship difficulties of the parents, problems with separation and divorce often require the professional help and support of parenting and family counseling centers.

Parents and other guardians have a legal right to parental advice. The necessary discussions, examinations and consultations are free of charge for those seeking advice.

Children and young people can also visit a counselling centre without the presence of their parents.

38 family counselling centres are funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
