In accordance with Section 30 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Building Chamber Act, a corporation may only use the protected professional title "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect", "landscape architect" or "urban planner", a word combination thereof or a similar designation in its company name if it is entered in the company register of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects.
- Publicly certified copy of the articles of association;
- Registration or entry in the commercial register;
- Proof of sufficient professional liability insurance to cover the liability risks arising from the company's activities in accordance with Section 30 (4) of the NRW Building Chamber Act.
The following requirements, among others, must be met for registration:
- Head office in North Rhine-Westphalia;
- Proof of sufficient professional liability insurance;
- The articles of association must contain the following provisions:
- The object of the company may only be the performance of professional tasks in accordance with the NRW Building Chamber Act
- At least half of the capital and voting shares must (in principle) be held by members of the Chamber of Architects.
- At least half of the persons authorized to manage the company must be members of the profession in accordance with Section 17 of the Building Chamber Act.
- The transfer of capital and shares is subject to the consent of all shareholders
- The professional duties applicable to the members of the profession must be observed by the company
The registration committee of the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia decides on the application for entry in the register of companies. The registration committee is an independent body that is not bound by instructions and checks whether the requirements for entry are met.
A corporation does not become a member of the Chamber of Architects when it is entered in the register of companies.
