Corporations that are not entered in a register of companies in the Federal Republic of Germany (foreign companies) may use the protected professional title "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect", "urban planner" or "urban planner" or comparable designations in their company name - without being entered in the register of companies - if they are entitled to use these or comparable designations under the law of their country of origin.
Foreign corporations that perform activities specified in the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects Act must notify the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects of the first provision of services.
The following documents must be submitted:
- Proof of professional liability insurance or comparable protection for the beneficiaries or third parties

Foreign corporations that perform activities specified in the North Rhine-Westphalia Building Chamber Act must notify the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects of the first provision of services (Section 32 (2) of the North Rhine-Westphalia Building Chamber Act).
The office of the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia confirms the notification of the first-time provision of services in the form of a certificate.
