If you want to travel with your pet within the EU, you will need an EU pet passport. You can find out more here.
- An EU pet passport must be carried for dogs, cats and ferrets (up to a total of 5 animals) traveling within the EU.
- This can be obtained from veterinary practices. It contains information about the animal, the owner and the rabies vaccination. The animal must have at least one valid rabies vaccination and be clearly identified by a microchip.
- Exceptions are Great Britain, Malta, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Sweden, for which special entry regulations still apply in accordance with the "Pet Travel Scheme".
- The conditions for export from the EU to third countries and to the various EU countries can be obtained from the relevant consulates.
