If you need help to live and do not have health insurance - statutory or private - the social welfare agency provides health assistance.

This includes:

• Support and advice for parents
• Care and nursing services
• Medical treatments
• Therapies such as speech and movement support
• Preventive medical checkups
• Everyday assistance

- Application for health assistance

- Identity card or passport (or other documents that can identify the person beyond doubt).

The competent social welfare institution will provide information on the documents required in individual cases.

Health assistance is provided to persons,

- who do not have statutory health insurance or do not have sufficient private health insurance,

- the provision of services via the health insurance fund is out of the question

- and who cannot reasonably be expected to raise the funds for the necessary assistance from their income and assets.

Health care assistance services for developmental disabilities or handicaps in children:

• Preventive medical services
• Early detection examinations
• Treatments
• Preventive measures
• Counseling

Responsible is

• the social welfare office of the respective local social welfare agency

or

• the social welfare office of the district or regional municipality referred to by the local social welfare agency,

in which the place of residence is located.
