You would like to operate a shooting range, for example for a shooting club. You need a permit for this.
If you want to operate a shooting range or significantly change its characteristics, you need a permit to do so.
There is an exception for shooting ranges in which weapons or ammunition are tested in closed rooms by weapons or ammunition manufacturers or experts or by scientific institutions. You can shoot there without a permit. There is only an obligation to notify. As the operator, you must then notify the competent authority in writing two weeks in advance of the start and end of operation of the shooting range.

- Appointment of at least one responsible supervisor
- You have reached the age of 18.
- You are reliable within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
- You are personally suitable within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
- You have taken out liability and accident insurance in accordance with the legal requirements.
- The shooting range meets the safety requirements. This is determined by an expert opinion from recognized shooting range experts.
You can obtain the permit as follows:
- You make an application and submit the required documents
- The required documents will be checked and you may have to submit additional required documents
- Your age, reliability and personal suitability will be checked (Section 4 (1) (1) and (2) of the Weapons Act)
- the decision is made in accordance with the Weapons Act
You may only operate the shooting range once you have received the permit.
The shooting range operator must immediately notify the weapons authority of the departure of the responsible supervisor and appoint a new responsible supervisor.

- no permit is required for shooting ranges where shooting takes place in closed rooms exclusively for the purpose of testing weapons or ammunition by weapons or ammunition manufacturers or experts or by scientific institutions; there is only a notification requirement
