Here you can apply for exemption from further school attendance before or after the age of 18.
- You must have reached the age of eighteen.
- You must have completed full-time compulsory education
- Specification of a reason for exemption
- Internship of an appropriate duration and serving the purpose of career orientation
- Application to the responsible school supervisory authority.
- In the case of Realschulen, Sekundarschulen, Gesamtschulen, Gymnasien and Berufskollegs as well as special schools with a focus on hearing and vision, the application must be submitted to the relevant district government.
- In the case of lower secondary schools and special schools with a focus on learning, language, emotional and social development, mental development and physical and motor development, the school authorities are the right contacts.
- The school supervisory authority checks the requirements for granting the exemption
The school supervisory authority decides on the early termination of your compulsory schooling (discretionary decision)
Please submit the application in good time so that the school supervisory authority has sufficient opportunity to examine and decide on it without coming into conflict with the deadlines you have requested.
- For young people without a vocational training contract, compulsory schooling lasts until the end of the school year in which they turn eighteen.
- Exemption from school attendance is possible for school-age children who have reached the age of eighteen.
