Express-Reisepass beantragen

The delivery time for a passport is usually at least 2 weeks. If you need a passport at short notice, you can apply for one using the express order procedure.

You can identify yourself with a passport when you travel to other countries. If you need the passport urgently, you can apply for it in an express order procedure at a citizens' office. The delivery time for your new passport is then usually 3 working days. You will have to pay a higher fee for this.

The normal passport has 32 pages. If you travel a lot, you can apply for a passport with 48 pages. Both variants can be applied for using the express order procedure.

You can apply for your passport using the express order procedure at your local Citizens' Registration Office at your main place of residence. You can also submit an application to any other citizens' registration office if you can provide an important reason for doing so. There is an additional surcharge for this.

• fulfilled requirements for photos for electronic passports
• if available and not yet validated: old passport, temporary passport, identity card, temporary identity card, children's passport
• if applicable:
  • Civil status certificate such as birth certificate,
  • marriage certificate or
  • civil partnership certificate

• You have German citizenship.
• There must be no grounds for refusing a passport, such as the assumption that you wish to avoid prosecution, execution of a sentence or a statutory maintenance obligation by leaving the country.

The basic fees for the passport are doubled if

• the passport has to be issued outside official office hours or
• you do not apply for the passport to be issued at your main place of residence.

You can only apply for a passport using the express order procedure in person at the Citizens' Registration Office. The application will be completed by the office staff. All you have to do is sign it. When you apply, your fingerprints will be taken solely for the purpose of storing them in the passport chip (usually a flat print of the left and right index finger).

The passport is produced by Bundesdruckerei GmbH and sent to the authorities. You can then collect the passport from the authority.
