Buildings, wind turbines, cranes and other objects can represent an obstacle to aviation due to their height and location. Such obstacles to aviation require approval under aviation law in the approval procedure or direct approval under aviation law if no building permit is required. If you require planning permission for the construction of a building, you do not have to apply separately for approval under aviation law for the building. The building authority will involve the aviation authority as part of the building permit procedure.
Structures of all kinds (buildings, wind turbines, chimneys, radio/transmission masts, high-voltage overhead lines) and temporary structures (cranes, concrete pumps, risers, platforms or other construction equipment) can be considered obstacles to aviation.
Approval or authorization under aviation law is required for obstacles in the following cases:
- Generally from a height of 100 meters above ground level
- on natural or artificial ground elevations from a height of 30 meters above ground level
- for overhead lines or cable cars from a height of 20 meters above the ground
- in the construction protection areas of airfields (with different height levels)
Approval or authorization for aviation obstacles may be subject to conditions. Possible conditions may include restrictions on the height of aviation obstacles or day and night markings.
Daytime markings for flat obstacles, such as wind turbines, are applied in gray-red or white-orange. Rope-shaped obstacles, such as high-voltage power lines, are marked with colored rope markers. A flashing white light (light signal) can also be used instead of paint. Temporary obstacles, such as cranes, should be marked in yellow, red or orange or with flags or warning signs. The night marking of aviation obstacles is carried out using red obstacle lights (steady) and/or hazard lights (flashing).

You must apply for the aviation permit in writing or online from the competent authority.
Two technical reports are usually required in the approval procedure. Additional costs are incurred for this, which are to be paid directly by the applicant.
- Tall buildings, wind turbines, wind turbines, construction cranes, etc. require approval under aviation law.
- Approval under aviation law required for:
- Height from 100 meters above ground
- Construction protection area of airfields
- Overhead power lines or cable cars from a height of 20 meters above the ground
