If recognized agricultural producer groups join together for a specific product or a group of related products, they form an association of producer groups. They can be recognized as such.

Associations of producer groups have the task of

• to improve the quality of agricultural production
• to bring about a concentration of agricultural supply,
• to reliably supply the market with high-quality products.

They advise producer groups on adapting production to market requirements.

Producer groups can also entrust their associations with the coordination of product sales, storage and packaging.

The sale itself is not one of the tasks of the associations of producer groups. Sales are carried out by the producer group itself.

The associations promote uniform production and quality rules.

Recognized associations of producer groups can receive state funding under certain conditions. Funding is granted, for example, for good marketing, effective sales strategies for quality agricultural and food products or investments to improve processing and marketing.

In order to have an agricultural producer group recognized as an association, the following is required

• a certified copy of the association's articles of association,
• a certified extract from the register or a certified copy of the founding resolution,
• a list of members with their names and addresses, and
• the common production and quality rules drawn up by the association.

The State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia requires further documents in individual cases. Please find out which documents you need to submit before submitting your application.

The statutes of the association of producer groups must contain provisions to the effect that

• that the members can only be recognized producer groups that produce the same product or the same group of related products,
• that it provides advice to the producer groups to which it belongs,
• that it establishes production and quality rules that apply to all members.
• No specific legal form is prescribed for the formation of associations.
• The association may not exclude competition on the market.

You will receive written notification of recognition.

You should seek advice from expert institutions and individuals when forming producer groups or associations of producer groups.

In addition to trade associations and existing associations (e.g. state association of the dairy industry, cooperative association), the NRW chambers of agriculture are also suitable for this purpose.

The recognition of producer groups and associations can be revoked if the requirements for recognition are no longer met or if legal regulations are violated.

Recognition is revoked by written notification.

Notice of legal remedies

An action may be brought against this decision within one month of service at the Potsdam Administrative Court, Friedrich-Ebert-Str. 32, 14469 Potsdam, in writing, in electronic form or for the record of the clerk of this court.

The action must identify the plaintiff, the defendant and the subject matter of the claim. It should contain a specific request. The facts and evidence serving as grounds should be stated.

If the action is filed in writing or for the record, the action and attachments should be accompanied by sufficient copies so that all parties can receive a copy.

If the action is filed in electronic form, the electronic documents must be provided with a qualified electronic signature within the meaning of the Signature Act. It must be submitted to the electronic mailroom of the Administrative Court of Potsdam via the communication channels specified on the website www.erv.brandenburg.de. • The association of recognized producer groups is referred to as an association of producer groups
• The association is only possible for a specific product or a group of similar products
• Associations of producer groups improve the market position of German agriculture
• The aim is to improve the market position of farmers in the value chain and the quality of agricultural production
• In contrast to producer groups, sales are not one of the tasks of producer group associations
