The institutional ID card (SMC-B) enables people working in the healthcare professions at an institution to access the telematics infrastructure (TI). The telematics infrastructure networks all participants in the healthcare system and will thus enable access to the electronic patient file (ePA) in the future, for example.
You can only exchange your institutional ID card (SMC-B) at the trust service provider from which you received the card. To exchange it, please use the application/customer portal of your trust service provider on their website.
You request the exchange of the SMC-B in the application/customer portal of your trust service provider from whom you received the card. They will provide you with further information on the procedure. The procedure may vary depending on the provider.
- The institutional card (SMC-B) is exchanged directly with the trust service provider that produced the SMC-B
- Exchange does not take place at a public authority
- Exchange is initiated by the citizen independently via the application/customer portal of the trust service provider
