Upon application by the pawnbroker to the competent authority, the period may be extended if there is good cause.

The period shall be extended for as long as the good cause is expected to exist. If the pawnbroker is prevented from doing so by a judicial or official measure, the period shall be extended until the realisation of other pawns following the lifting of the measure.

• Identity card or passport, if applicable
• If applicable, pawnbroker's permit
• If applicable, documents that document the important reason

Good cause exists if:

• there is a conflict between the pawnbroker's obligations under the Pawnbroker Regulation and other legal provisions,
• a postponement of the realisation is in the interest of the pledger, e.g. if, for seasonal reasons, a more favourable result can be achieved for the pledger in the case of a later realisation despite the interest and costs which continue to accrue,
• if a legal dispute is pending regarding the ownership of the pledge or the creation of the pledge.
