Forestry associations are associations under private law of

• recognized forestry associations,
• forestry associations,
• forestry cooperatives or
• forest cooperatives

Their aim is to work towards adapting forestry production and the sale of forestry products to the requirements of the market.

Forestry associations only have the following tasks:

• Informing and advising members,
• Participation of members in forestry planning,
• Adjustment of sales to demand;
• market-oriented storage of products;
• centralized timber marketing;
• procurement and joint use of machinery and equipment.

This makes it possible to compensate for the disadvantages of individual forest owners and results in a balanced supply to the wood-processing industry.

As a forest owner, you can also join a forestry association under certain conditions, especially if you cannot be a member of a forestry association or a forestry association. To do so, submit an application to the forestry authority responsible for you.

• Written application by the Chairman for recognition
• Invitation to the inaugural meeting
• Attendance list from this inaugural meeting
• Address list of the board members
• Current list of members - at least 7 members, if the legal form of an association with commercial business operations is chosen, stating the respective member area (note: members are legal entities and not individual forest owners!)
• the articles of association or partnership agreement adopted by the founding members
• Map (preferably on a scale of 1: 50,000), showing the affiliated areas
• Minutes of the inaugural meeting signed by the elected chairman and the secretary

Report from the regional forestry office on the objectives and prospects of success (assessment with regard to the achievement of the purpose (= adjustment of forestry production and the sale of forest products)).

The forestry association must be a legal entity under private law.

It must promote the adaptation of forestry to demand and sales.

Its articles of association or partnership agreement must contain provisions on

• its task
• the financing of the task.

It must allow significant competition to exist on the timber market. The competent authority under Land law may permit individual landowners who cannot be members of a forestry association or a forestry association to join the forestry association.

You can apply for recognition as a forestry association in writing and informally to the responsible office. The responsible office will inform you about the further procedure and the expected processing time.
