§ Section 15 (1) DenkmalschutzG NRW

Permission must be granted if the intended excavation or recovery does not endanger archaeological monuments or the preservation of sources for research. The requirement for the granting of a permit is only fulfilled if all information associated with an archaeological site or find is made available to the responsible authorities so that scientific evaluation remains possible. This information serves the implementation of the NRW Monument Protection Act by the monument authorities. Only in this way can the legal mandate be fulfilled in the public interest.

• Application
• Certificate stating that the applicant has presented himself to the relevant branch office of the Westphalian Office for the Preservation of Monuments.
• Proof of participation in information and training events organized by the specialist office must be provided.

• a written application and
• a plan with identification of the area to be investigated and details of the district, parcel and land parcels
• The equipment and tools to be used (metal probe, spade, etc.) must be expressly named.

• You submit an application to the higher monument authority
• After the application has been checked, you will receive a permit, which you carry with you

• The search for ground monuments and archaeological excavations require a permit.
• The permit already applies to all activities aimed at searching for ground monuments.
