If you are starting dual vocational training, your training company will register you for vocational school. The vocational college you attend depends on the location of your training company and the respective profile of the vocational college. In order to fulfill the compulsory schooling requirement, the company providing the training is entitled to admit you to the vocational college closest to the company providing the training where a corresponding specialist class is set up. With the agreement of the training company, you have the option of attending another vocational college, in particular one that is closer to your place of residence.

During your training in the vocational classes of the dual system, you will acquire the vocational school leaving certificate. At the same time, you have the opportunity to obtain a higher general school-leaving qualification (lower secondary level qualifications; entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences). The aim of the training is to acquire job-related and cross-occupational skills.

The vocational schools and training companies are equal partners in dual vocational training.

If you are under the age of 21 at the start of your training, you are required to attend school until the end of your training. The vocational school and the training companies jointly monitor compliance with your compulsory schooling.

This is a matter for the school board, if applicable:

• a copy of the training contract
• a copy of the last school report
• possibly passport photos
• possibly further documents depending on the vocational school.

Existence of a training contract for dual vocational training in accordance with the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) or another legitimate interest to be proven.

Training companies (trainees in the case of full-time school-based training) can register for vocational school via the Internet portal Schüler Online (www.schueleranmeldung.de).

Vocational school

• Registration by the training company with a valid training contract.
• Registration by the student in the case of full-time school-based training in accordance with the Berufskolleganrechnungs- und -zulassungsverordnung (BKAZVO) or in the case of admission to full-time school-based training at the Staatliche Glasfachschule Rheinbach
• Every training company is entitled to have its trainees attend the vocational college closest to the training company in which a corresponding technical class is set up in order to fulfill their compulsory schooling. The vocational school (vocational class of the dual system) provides a vocational school certificate. Depending on previous training, a higher general qualification can also be obtained.
