Inspection experts for technical building services can be recognized in various disciplines:
In the field of supply engineering, these are the sub-specializations that include the following systems:
- Ventilation systems including pressurized ventilation systems,
- CO warning systems,
- natural and mechanical smoke extraction systems and
- fire extinguishing systems
and in the field of electrical engineering, the sub-specializations that include the following systems:
- Fire detection and alarm systems,
- safety lighting and safety power supply systems and
- electrical systems.
The recognition procedure checks whether you meet the recognition requirements, in particular whether you have the expertise required for the job. To determine whether you have the required expertise, you will take an examination at a body designated by the competent authority. In addition to completing written and practical tasks, you must also demonstrate your knowledge in a technical interview. After receiving state recognition, inspection experts are authorized to inspect technical systems and the fire protection measures required by building regulations for their effectiveness and operational safety.
- Certified copy or copy of the birth certificate
- Curriculum vitae with complete details of professional career and professional practice up to the date of application,
- a certified copy or photocopy of the final certificate from the training institution and all certificates of previous employment,
- Proof of the application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O or P) or an equivalent document from a member state of the European Union, which should not be older than three months,
- Declaration by the applicant that he or she will only carry out tests to the best of his or her knowledge and belief and in which his or her impartiality is guaranteed, and
- a list of the applicant's testing equipment and the aids and facilities that can be used at short notice
In order to be recognized as an inspection expert for one or more of the above-mentioned (sub-)disciplines, you must
- prove that you have your main residence, your place of business or your predominant professional activity in North Rhine-Westphalia,
- prove that you are entitled to use the professional title "engineer" on the basis of the Engineering Act of May 5, 1970 (GV. NRW. p. 312), last amended by the Act of May 28, 2013 (GV. NRW. p. 272), and that you have at least five years of professional experience in the field in which you wish to carry out the testing activity,
- have the specialist knowledge required to carry out the activity as an expert in the specialist field to which your expert activity relates and have the necessary testing equipment and aids,
- your personality is such that you can guarantee that you are up to the tasks of an expert and that you will perform them impartially and conscientiously,
- prove that you are not already an officially recognized expert in the field in other countries, and
- prove that you have not yet reached the age of 70. Existing recognition certificates can be adjusted to the age of 70 upon written application.
You can apply for recognition as an inspection expert in writing or electronically. You must enclose the above-mentioned documents with the application.
The expertise required for recognition in the subject area applied for must be proven by an examination in accordance with § 5 Para. 1, § 5a PrüfVO NRW.
The examination consists of a written and an oral-practical part. Only those who have successfully passed the written part will be admitted to the oral practical part.
For the sub-specializations in supply engineering, the examination is conducted either by the Stuttgart Region Chamber of Industry and Commerce or the Brandenburg Chamber of Engineers.
For the sub-specializations in electrical engineering, the examination is conducted either by the Saarland Chamber of Industry and Commerce or the Brandenburg Chamber of Engineers.
The documents for registering for the examination are forwarded by the responsible office to the responsible Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Please note that the respective chamber will charge costs for the examination, which must be paid directly to the chamber.
All costs of the examination and other expenses incurred in connection with the examination are borne by you as the applicant.
The competent body will only decide on your application for recognition once all of the above-mentioned requirements have been assessed on the basis of the documents submitted and, in particular, proof of expertise has been provided or could not be provided by the results of the examinations.
