Construction projects are generally planned, dimensioned and executed with usable construction products that either bear a Ü marking, are usable due to a European CE marking with a declaration of performance, or do not require separate proof of usability in accordance with building regulations.

If such a standard case does not exist, the usability of exceptional building products for a specific construction project can be demonstrated by submitting an application for approval in individual cases.

This enables construction projects with innovative or special construction products for which there are no generally recognized rules of technology or which deviate significantly from technical building regulations.

• Details of the applicant
• Description of the construction project
• Details of the parties involved in the project
• Description of the construction product as the subject of the application
• Design drawings for the technical solution
• If applicable, concept for verifying the usability of the construction product
• If applicable, reports on tests on test specimens of the construction product
• Project-related expert opinion
• Static calculations, if applicable

Approval can only be applied for in individual cases for construction products for which there are no generally recognized rules of technology or which deviate significantly from technical building regulations.

Approval can only be applied for in individual cases for one construction project.

The application can be submitted by any natural or legal person (e.g. company).

The procedure begins with the application:

• Review of the application documents
• Examination of the need for approval
• Subsequent request for application documents if necessary
• Discussions with project participants if necessary
• Approval in individual cases can only be granted once the usability has been proven by complete application documents
• You will receive the notification of approval in individual cases and the notification of fees by post or in digital form
• The Ü-marking of the construction product in accordance with the provisions of the individual approval confirms usability.

An application for individual approval can be combined with an application for project-related type approval.

For construction products with CE marking in accordance with the European Construction Products Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011, no individual approval can be granted.

Individual approvals for construction products that are to be installed in listed buildings must be applied for at the lower building supervisory authority (city or district) and not at the Ministry of Construction.

• approval in individual cases can only be applied for and granted for a single construction project
