Section 20(3) no. 4 and (4) sentence 2 of the Act on the Residence, Gainful Employment and Integration of Foreigners in the Federal Territory (Residence Act - AufenthG).
Section 8 (1) Residence Act.
Once the equivalence of your foreign professional qualification has been successfully established or you have been granted a permit to practise your profession in Germany, your residence permit can then be extended for a maximum of 12 months to enable you to look for a job.
If you have successfully had the equivalence of a foreign professional qualification established or have been granted a professional practice permit, you can be granted a temporary residence permit to look for a job.
The residence permit will be issued directly following your previous recognition procedure. An extension of the residence permit is only possible if the maximum period was not exhausted when it was first issued. If you do not find a job during this period, an extension of the residence permit is not possible. You are then obliged to leave the Federal territory.
This residence permit allows unrestricted gainful employment.

- If all requirements are met, the Aliens' Registration Office will take your biometric data (photo, fingerprints) and order the electronic residence permit (eAT) from Bundesdruckerei GmbH.
