If you are pregnant, you may only be employed during the last six weeks before delivery with your consent.
You may not be employed at all until eight weeks, or twelve weeks in the case of premature or multiple births, after the birth.
Outside the statutory protection periods, the Maternity Protection Act provides for general employment bans (e.g. piecework, assembly line, overtime, Sunday or night work) and individual employment bans based on a medical certificate for your protection and the protection of your child.
