If you, as the responsible person, intend to take up specific activities with pathogens (permit-free or subject to approval), you must report this.

The obligation to notify exists regardless of whether the activities are previously reported and have already been carried out by another responsible person or whether they are new activities that have not yet been notified.
There is no obligation to notify employees who work under the supervision of a person who has the necessary permission to work with pathogens.

The competent authority shall examine the existing premises, facilities and disposal measures.
A notification of change is required if, compared to a previous notification, there are significant changes in the quality of the rooms and facilities, the disposal measures or the nature and scope of the activities.

A change notification is also required if a person terminates the activities or resumes the same activities that have already been reported after their completion.
 

You can submit the informal notification in writing or in person.

Data:

• certified copy of the licence for activities with pathogens or information on the exemption from authorisation of the intended activities
• Information on the nature and extent of the intended commencement of activities and disposal measures
• Information on the nature of the rooms and facilities

If you submit the notification in writing to the competent authority, it must be signed by hand or provided with a qualified electronic signature.
 

There are fees according to the administrative costs regulation for the business area of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration (VwKostO-HMSI). The amount of the fee is calculated according to the time required.

The notification shall be notified to the authority at least 30 days before the intended commencement of activities.

At the end of this period, the activity may be commenced if it has not been prohibited by the authority.

The period shall not begin until the authority has received all the necessary documents in full.
 

Before taking up activities with pathogens as the responsible person, you need a permit for activities with pathogens.
