AIDS counselling is offered in Hesse by health authorities and independent institutions (Hessische Aidshilfen, AIDS-Aufklärung Frankfurt). The consultation is confidential, anonymous and free of charge. Topics of counselling can be, for example, the HIV test, infection risks, infection protection and fear of infection. In addition, the AIDS counselling service provides comprehensive information on HIV infection and AIDS. The counselling can be done in person or by telephone, AIDS organisations also offer e-mail and online counselling.

At all health authorities and at some AIDS organizations it is possible to have an anonymous HIV test carried out, in some cases it is necessary to make an appointment in advance.

In addition, the Hessian AIDS Organisations offer a wide range of counselling and care services for people with HIV and their relatives.

The nationwide anonymous counseling service of the AIDS services can be reached from Mon: - Fri: 09:00 – 21:00 and Sunday from 12:00 – 14:00 under the phone number 0180 - 33 19411 (0.09 Euro./min. from the German landline, price from mobile networks may vary).

The BzGA helpline can be reached from Mon: - Thu: 10:00 - 22:00, Fri: - Sun: 10:00 - 18:00 under the phone number 01805 - 555 444 (0.14 Euro/min. from landline, mobile max. 0.42 Euro/min.)
