There are 2 forms of membership with the Hessen Chamber of Engineers (IngKH):
Membership of the Chamber of Engineers is compulsory for freelance engineers who work independently and on their own responsibility (consulting engineers, town planners).
Employed engineers can join the chamber voluntarily.
The chamber keeps lists of
- Consulting engineers,
- urban planners - IngKH,
- voluntary members,
- authorized to provide evidence, authorized to submit building documents and inspection experts,
- publicly appointed and sworn experts (appointed by IngKH),
- specialist planners.
Compulsory members of the Chamber of Engineers are all
- in the list of consulting engineers or
- in the list of urban planners - IngKH
belong to the Chamber of Engineers.
- Application form/personnel form
- Certified copies of the engineering examination certificates or Bachelor's and Master's certificates as well as the diploma supplement or the official confirmation of authorization to use the professional title "engineer" in accordance with the Hessian Engineering Act of 15.07.1970 (GVBI. I p. 407)
- Proof (certificates, list of references, etc.) of at least 3 years of practical engineering experience
- If applicable, membership certificate of the consulting engineer of another chamber of engineers
- Certificate of good conduct (not older than 3 months)
- Declaration of professional independence
- Assignment to specialist groups and/or working groups
- Proof of professional liability insurance
- Direct debit authorization for one-off inspection and registration fee as well as the annual membership fee invoice
Consulting engineers
- Authorization to use the professional title "Engineer" alone or in a word combination
- Proven professional experience of at least 3 years as an engineer
Town planner - IngKH
- Studies in the fields of civil engineering, geography, surveying or land management with a focus, postgraduate or supplementary studies in urban planning
and - Proven professional experience over a period of 2 years (full-time or part-time employment equivalent to comparable full-time employment)
or
5 years of professional experience in the absence of a major, advanced or supplementary degree program
Note:
Professional practice includes work in the essential professional tasks of urban planning under the expert supervision of a professional person, for example:
- environmental planning, spatial planning, land use planning
- regional development
- Infrastructure planning (transport and urban water management)
Voluntary members
At their request, voluntary members shall be those who
- are authorized to use the professional title "engineer
- have exercised a practical professional activity as an engineer for at least 2 years and
- have a residence, place of business and employment in the country.
Engineers without the required practical professional experience and students of engineering can be admitted as non-voting members.
- The costs for the examination and registration procedure amount to 150.00 euros.
- Chamber membership is subject to contributions.
This is based on the fee regulations of the Hesse Chamber of Engineers.
The requirements for admission as a Consulting Engineer and Town Planner - IngKH will be checked by a registration committee upon your written application.
Once you have been admitted to the Chamber, you will receive a certificate of entry in the corresponding list. The certificate must be returned if the entry is deleted.
