If you decide to install and operate a heating oil system,
a notification to the water authority is required. The following must be reported
- the construction of underground installations (regardless of the storage quantity),
- the construction of above-ground installations with more than 1,000 liters of heating oil ("above-ground" also includes storage in the basement of a building) and
- all significant changes and the decommissioning of the system
Required documents:
- Fully completed notification form for heating oil systems (a form is available from the lower water authorities or can be downloaded from the website of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection)
The lower water authorities, which are located at the district committee and the magistrate of the independent cities, are responsible.
