If you want to practice medicine in the field of physiotherapy, you must apply for a permit to do so.

The granting of a licence to practise medicine, limited to the field of physiotherapy, is reserved exclusively for persons who are in possession of a licence to use the professional title of physiotherapist in accordance with the law on masseurs and physiotherapists. In order to decide on the granting of a licence to practise medicine professionally in the field of physiotherapy, all applications are first examined on the basis of the available files. First of all, the certificates submitted and any other evidence of completed courses of study and additional training are checked to determine whether and to what extent the limited alternative practitioner licence for physiotherapy can be granted according to the available files. It always depends on the possible individual circumstances.

• Application for a permit to practice medicine in the field of physiotherapy,
• Identity card or passport,
• in the case of name changes, a birth certificate/name change certificate,
• a curriculum vitae in tabular form,
• if applicable, a certificate of registration (if the identity document is not an identity card),
• information from the Federal Central Register (document type 0),
• if applicable, a statement made by you as to whether you are subject to criminal proceedings or investigations by the public prosecutor's office (self-disclosure),
• proof of permission to use the professional title of physiotherapist,
• proof of further education and training, completed courses of study or training qualifications in the fields of differential diagnostics and professional and legal knowledge,
• proof of four years of professional experience as a physiotherapist (with an average of at least 30 hours per week) as an officially certified photocopy (proof from the employer or certificate from the tax advisor),
• a certificate from a registered doctor.

In addition, if the review is carried out according to the file:

• Proof of professional training in physiotherapy,
• 40-hour curriculum to close the normative knowledge gap,
• Proof of at least five years of professional experience (indication of the period) as a physiotherapist, at least half a shift (indication of weekly hours),
• Proof of completed training and further education.

Note: The competent authority reserves the right to request an overview of the written performance assessment taken in the 60-hour training.

You must

• Be at least 25 years old,
• be able to prove physical and mental aptitude for the practice of medicine in the field of physiotherapy by means of a medical certificate,
• be able to prove the reliability required for the practice of medicine in the field of physiotherapy by means of an official certificate of good conduct,
• Be able to prove that you have worked for four years (with an average of at least 30 hours per week) and have 4 years of professional experience (with an average of at least 30 hours per week)

Depends on the respective administrative fee schedule of the state or on the fee statutes of the competent authorities under state law.

• You submit the application for the practice of medicine, including all necessary documents, to the competent authority.
• The competent authority checks whether all requirements are met
• If the test is positive, you will be granted permission.

If you have submitted the application for permission to exercise, the competent authority will decide on this in a timely manner.
