Do you have a pilot's license that was not issued by a member state of the EU, the EEA or Switzerland? Then you can convert your license into a license under EU law.
If you wish to convert your third-country licenses into a European license, you must apply to the competent authority.
- Proof of identity (identity card or passport)
- Valid third country license issued according to ICAO rules
- Current EU medical certificate of the relevant class
- German radiotelephony certificate or authorization card for the recognition of aircraft radio certificates
- For motor-powered aircraft ICAO language level German or English (min. 4)
- Extract from the driving aptitude register
- For engine-powered aircraft, a valid background check in accordance with Section 7 of the Aviation Security Act
- For non-powered aircraft, a certificate of good conduct document type - O -
- Verification of the validity of the license by the issuing authority in German or English
- Minimum flight experience 100 hours as PIC
- Valid class or type rating
- For balloons: previous flying hours per class/group
