If you have lost a weapon, ammunition or a weapon permit, such as a weapon possession card or takeaway permit, you must report this.
You must report the loss of all firearms permits. Weapons permits include: firearms possession card, hunting license, ammunition purchase license, firearms license, small firearms license, shooting permit, European firearms pass, replacement certificate for WBK, other permit documents (e.g. transfer permit).
You can also indicate the loss of multiple weapons/ammunition and permits in an ad.
If you indicate that you have lost permissions, you should also apply for replacement documents to be issued with the report.
If you find the weapons and permits again, you must report this to the responsible weapons authority. Any replacement documents that may have been issued must be returned.
To fill out the ad faster, you can use the NWR identification numbers (NWR ID):
- Your PersonalNWR-ID (P- or F-NWR-ID) for your personal information
- the permitNWR-ID for the firearms permit (E-NWR-ID)
- the weapon or weapon part NWR ID (W or T-NWR ID).
You can obtain the NWR IDs upon application from the responsible weapons authority.
You must report the loss of weapons, ammunition or permits to the competent weapons authority.

In Hesse, the district regulatory authorities (districts and independent cities) are responsible as weapons authorities.
The competent authority is the weapons authority (district or independent city) in whose district you reside.
