§Section 18 (1) of the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV)

If an accident or an operational disruption or cases of illness or death in connection with hazardous substances have occurred in your company, you must report this to the competent authority.

You must notify the competent authority of an accident or malfunction during activities involving hazardous substances if it has resulted in serious damage to the health of your employee(s). You must also report cases of illness and death if there is concrete evidence that these were caused by working with hazardous substances.

Notification of accident or malfunction
- Place of accident / location of damage
- Injured person(s) (number, names)
- Causing hazardous substance
- Employer of the injured person(s) or company involved (with address in each case)
- Contact person at the scene of the accident / location of the incident
- Time of accident
- Course of the accident
- Type of injuries / death / damage event

Notification of illness or death
- Place of employment
- Injured person(s) (names)
- Causing hazardous substance
- Exact details of the activity
- Employer of the injured person(s)
- Person responsible according to § 13 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Risk assessment according to § 6 of the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefstoffV)

If applicable, risk assessment for the work area

There are no costs.

You must report an accident or malfunction to the responsible authority by e-mail or post:
- You submit your report.
- The competent authority checks your report.
- The competent authority may request documents
