You cast your vote on an official ballot paper. You will receive this from the electoral committee when you enter the polling station. With the ballot paper you go to the voting booth. There you mark the ballot paper and fold it so that your identification cannot be recognized.
Then you come to the table of the election committee. Upon request, you hand over your polling card or identify yourself. The secretary of the electoral committee then checks whether you are listed in the voters' register. If this is the case, you can put your ballot paper in the ballot box. The secretary will then note that you have cast your vote.
Voting in the European elections is carried out as follows:
- The voter enters the polling station. A member of the electoral committee hands out the ballot paper.
- The voter marks and folds the ballot paper in the voting booth.
- The voter comes to the polling table with the ballot paper folded.
- The electoral committee checks eligibility to vote on the basis of the voters' register (if necessary by presenting an identity document).
- The voter throws the folded ballot paper into the ballot box.
The polling booth may only be entered individually, unless an auxiliary person is required to cast a vote. Photography or filming in the voting booth is not permitted.
