Have you divorced and then changed your surname? Then you will need to apply for a new identity card if you do not have a valid passport document with the new name.
If your name has changed after a divorce, the identity card is invalid (due to the fact that your name is no longer correct). In order to comply with the ID requirement, a new identity card must be applied for.
Exception: You are in possession of a valid passport with the new name.

- valid passport or birth certificate
- an up-to-date biometric-compatible photograph (according to the photo sample board)
€22.80 for applicants under 24 years of age; €37.00 for applicants in all other cases.
€13.00 surcharge for applications outside working hours or at a non-competent authority.
