If you have been sent to quarantine or banned from working on the basis of an order issued by the health authority, you are entitled to compensation for your loss of earnings.

If you have an alternative activity or work from home (home office), you are not entitled to compensation.

The compensation depends on your earnings.

The following applies to employees:

For the first six weeks, you will receive compensation directly from your employer in the amount of your previous net salary. The short-time working allowance is also taken into account.

From the 7th week, the Darmstadt Regional Council pays in the amount of the sick pay.

Subsidies from your employer will be deducted from the calculation.

If you are entitled to unemployment benefit during the ban, you will receive this from the Employment Agency.

If you were compulsorily insured under statutory pension, health, nursing care and unemployment insurance before the start of the quarantine or the ban on employment, the insurance obligation continues to exist through your employer.

If you were not compulsorily insured in the statutory pension, health and long-term care insurance before the start of the quarantine or the ban on work, you will receive an appropriate amount of contributions to other insurance by the Darmstadt Regional Council upon request.

The following applies to employers:

You must pay compensation to your employees for six weeks. You can have the amounts paid reimbursed by the Darmstadt Regional Council.

The contributions for compulsory insurance in the statutory pension, nursing care, health and unemployment insurance will also be reimbursed to you.

The following applies to self-employed persons:

You will receive the refund directly from the Darmstadt Regional Council.

Your last annual profit is taken into account for the calculation. This is divided by 12.

You can have contributions to pension, nursing care and health insurance reimbursed.

The following applies to homeworkers:

Unlike the self-employed, your average monthly income is taken into account for the calculation.

  • Sickness certificates for sick leave
  • Notification of the ban on activities and its lifting (in the case of a generally ordered quarantine due to the regulation of the state government to combat the corona virus of 13 March 2020 – returnees – please submit proof of your stay in a risk area)

For self-employed persons:

  • Application
  • Certificate from the tax office on the amount of the last annual income (or business evaluation/BWA of the tax consultant)
  • Sickness certificates for sick leave
  • Notice of the ban on activities and its lifting (in the case of a generally ordered quarantine due to the Ordinance of the State Government to Combat the Corona Virus of 13 March 2020 – Returnees – please submit proof of your stay in a risk area)Proof of the amount of expenses for coverage in health, nursing care and pension insurance

Voraussetzungen

You are entitled to reimbursement of your loss of earnings if:

  • You are subject to a ban on activity
  • or are in quarantine
  • and you have a loss of earnings
  • and you are not unable to work.

Kosten

There are no fees.

Verfahrensablauf

The compensation procedure shall be carried out by the competent authority. Employers and the self-employed submit applications, employees can only submit applications in exceptional cases.

The payment is instructed by the competent authority and is made directly to the account details provided by the applicant. The applicants will receive a notification of this.

Anyone who is no longer allowed to work due to measures under the IfSG and therefore has a loss of earnings can apply for compensation. In the case of employees, this is paid up to six weeks in advance by the employer. After the six weeks, the authority pays this in the amount of the sick pay. Self-employed persons receive the reimbursement directly from the authority.
