E-Health-Initiative Hessen

The Hessian Ministry of Health acts as an innovator, initiator and facilitator for the application of digital solutions and services for the Hessian healthcare system and launched the Hessian e-health initiative on August 1, 2017.

Digital solutions in the healthcare sector affect us all and are changing our society in almost every area of life. In future, the demand for new integrated forms of care will increase due to the changing demands on care and healthcare, especially in rural areas.

If the potential is used responsibly, the digital transformation will open up great opportunities for a better quality of life, revolutionary business models and efficient economic activity.

The goals of the initiative are

• to improve healthcare provision, particularly in rural areas
• the transfer of expert know-how from specialist medical centers to rural areas,
• effectiveness, efficiency and safety in the healthcare system,
• the expansion of demand-oriented cross-sector supply chains,
• supporting healthcare providers in their daily work and
• the avoidance of incorrect and excessive treatment.
